Community impact 2025
How can you measure success? What are the key factors that show that your project is working? Are you fulfilling the demand of the community you are part of? These are all essential questions you should ask yourself when doing community work and serving those around you. For The Main Story community art gallery, answering these questions is also an important part of our work. We measure our success by adding up the exhibition attendance numbers each year, and this year we served two thousand nine hundred ninety-one people in our city. Our key factors for success are to sense the interest of our attendees, attract new visitors to the exhibition, and have those eager to come back again and take another look at the paintings. We are glad to be part of the Art Community in Spokane and continue to meet the spiritual, social, and emotional needs people have all the time.
Each time we do an exhibition in Spokane, it feels like a new page in the gallery's life journal, because it is a new day, new people, new feedback, and emotions from the audience. You, as a presenter, come to the exhibition with a new layer of knowledge and understanding of the art you are about to show and explain. This year's highlight was that we were able to present art to the youngest audience in our town, that is, children, who were part of the Pilgrim Church kids camp this past July. Part of the kids’ program during the day was to come and observe the art, examine the details of each piece, and vote for their favorite gallery image. It is interesting to see a trend in what children like most in the whole gallery. When you are in the world of art, you are eager to learn new ideas and study the art yourself to become better at it. For this year's training session, we picked the Jundt Art Museum on the Gonzaga Campus, which had a great selection to learn from and observe. I always find this time valuable, as I learn something new from our Art educator, Evgeniy Grechko, who is part of our gallery team.
Thrive International Center welcomed us again this year for Easter weekend, and the center's residents were able to come at their own time to study the timeless pieces and reflect on the valuable life lessons they offer. Our team had good discussions not only with the Ukrainian community that resides at the center, but also with people from other parts of the world, who were interested to learn about Jesus’s life as depicted in the paintings. Our team is always looking forward to the Spokane International Fair in September, because it is our busiest time of the year, and this year was no different. During the ten days of the fair, we had over 2,600 people visit us. It was special when a happy man stopped by our booth, thanked us, and told us his story: “Three years ago, I came to see your booth. At that time, I was depressed and did not have a purpose in life, but gallery art made a big impression on me. I started thinking about my life and purpose, which helped me get back to God and church”. When hearing such stories, we are excited to see how our gallery's goal to provide a spiritual and educational experience is working and making an impact on people's lives one at a time. Spokane Family Day, which happens in August, is our recurring event that we visit every year. We want to be part of community-oriented events where you can serve all audiences, from children to seniors, and this is the place to be. We often get similar comments from visitors after they view the gallery, saying, “This is the way I feel right now.” After observing the life of Jesus and what He has gone through, they relate the emotions to their own lives.
The Mainstory gallery team is honored to have been a part of these opportunities in 2025 and looks forward to the new year. We have exciting plans for 2026 to offer more exhibition events to our local universities. Thank you for your support and for sharing the work we do in our community with others. Let’s serve our city together. Would you consider supporting us in 2026? Contact us for more information, partnerships, or donations. We appreciate your consideration.
